AgentBridge

Local command-line tool that keeps Claude Code and Codex talking to each other inside one working session, so each can review the other's work and hand tasks over mid-run.

What it does

AgentBridge is a local developer tool that connects Claude Code and Codex so the two agents can exchange messages while they work in the same project. A background daemon forwards Codex output to Claude as channel notifications and injects Claude's replies into the Codex thread, so you no longer copy text between two terminals. The README describes three uses: one agent reviewing the other's diff and sending change requests back, the two agents proposing how to split a task, and a budget feature that hands work to the other side when one subscription window runs out. To keep context small, only the agents' actual messages cross, filtered by importance markers, and tool-call noise stays behind. It is described as an experimental, human-in-the-loop setup rather than a hosted service, a general orchestration framework or a hardened security boundary. Setup needs Bun, Claude Code and the Codex CLI installed; the tool is installed with npm and driven through the abg commands.

Capabilities

  • Two-way messaging between Claude Code and Codex in one session
  • Cross-review where one agent checks the other's diff and replies into its thread
  • Task splits that the two agents propose and negotiate before coding
  • Budget coordination that hands work over when a subscription window runs out
  • One agent pair per project directory, with doctor, resume and kill commands

When to use it

  • You already run both Claude Code and Codex and want them to check each other's work
  • You want long jobs to keep moving when one agent hits its usage limit
  • You are tired of acting as the message relay between two terminals
