What it does

AI Visibility Monitor (AVM) is an open-source command-line toolkit written in Python. It runs a set of buyer-style queries through Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity, records the URLs each answer cites, and reports whether your domain appears and where competitors do. Beyond the basic check, it can generate adjacent queries and score how realistic each is to win, group cited sources by type (community sites, press, blogs and so on), list community threads cited across several queries, and chart your citation trajectory over repeated runs. Separate scripts pull Google Search Console and GA4 data and check robots.txt, llms.txt and the sitemap for AI crawler access. It runs locally on your own API keys, writes its results as JSON files, and is released under the MIT license. The README says nothing routes through a third-party server.

Capabilities

  • Checks whether your domain is cited when Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity answer your buyer queries
  • Expands your queries and ranks the adjacent ones by how winnable they look
  • Categorizes cited sources by type, such as Reddit, press and blogs
  • Trend command that shows citation rate across past runs
  • Scripts for Google Search Console, GA4 and robots.txt, llms.txt and sitemap checks

When to use it

  • Measuring whether AI engines cite your site for the questions your buyers ask
  • Finding the community threads that keep being cited in your category
  • Running a low-cost weekly visibility check on your own API keys
  • Piping JSON output into your own spreadsheet or dashboard
