What it does
Amazon Q is the AI assistant brand from Amazon Web Services, offered as several products. Amazon Q Developer is aimed at people who build, run and modernize software on AWS. Amazon Q Business lets employees ask questions, solve problems and take actions using their own company's content and systems. Q also appears inside other AWS services. In QuickSight it helps analysts build dashboards and visualizations from natural-language requests. In Amazon Connect it detects customer issues in a conversation and suggests responses and actions to contact center agents. In AWS Supply Chain it answers questions about data in the supply chain data lake. The site says Amazon Q is built on Amazon Bedrock, uses several foundation models, and routes each task to the model it judges the best fit. It states that Q respects existing identities, roles and permissions, so a user cannot reach data through Q that they could not reach without it, and that data from Q Developer Pro and Q Business plans is not used to improve underlying models for others.
