What it does
Amp presents itself as a coding agent and development environment for working from anywhere. Every agent gets its own orb, so work carries on when you close your laptop. You can send a prompt, step away, then pick the thread up again from your phone or share it with teammates. The homepage is mostly a long walkthrough video and transcript of a developer's working day in Amp. In it, agents fix bugs from user reports, act on a screen recording of a UI glitch, preview a front-end change in a portal pane, ship a change from a Changes tab, and then check a rollout on a timer. The walkthrough also shows orbs being granted or denied access to production logs, agents reading project guidance from an AGENTS.md file, an MCP connection used to post to Slack, and a command-line tool with both a terminal interface and a headless mode.
