What it does
Aura is an open-source desktop app for coding with AI. You open a project folder, connect a model and describe the work. Aura can handle it directly or bring in Agents that each have their own instructions, models and permissions. A process that works can be saved as a reusable Team, shown as a graph you can edit and run again with a different task. Models can come from hosted APIs such as DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and OpenRouter, or from local servers such as Ollama, LM Studio and llama.cpp, and hosted and local models can be mixed in one Team. Aura reads and searches the repository, shows tool activity and terminal output, and can show proposed diffs for approval before writes when manual approval is on. Writable agent work uses isolated worktrees, and MCP servers, Git and terminal tools are available in the same app. On Windows a downloadable installer is provided; on macOS and Linux the app is run from source with Python 3.10 or later. A companion lets you follow work from your phone while the desktop keeps running.
