What it does

BrainSoup is a desktop application where you create custom agents, each set up for a specific job, and let them collaborate on larger projects in goal-oriented chat rooms. You direct them in natural language. The agents can run on large language models such as ChatGPT and Mistral AI, or on local models, and the site says its Semantic Kernel technology lets them remember you and key points from earlier conversations. Agents can act as well as talk. Built-in tools let them calculate, browse the web, send emails, make API calls, generate and edit images and videos, and run scripts, and you can add ChatGPT plugins or custom tools that call programs and scripts on your computer. They can read real-time data and react to user-defined events through simple text files and scripts, and they can process images and audio files. You control what each agent knows by adding your own documents. For privacy, BrainSoup keeps a local database, supports local models through Ollama and avoids cloud storage; the site says requests to third-party AI services are anonymized and not used to train models. A built-in assistant named Doc-E helps with setup and scripting. Announced future work includes a command-line interface and macOS, Android and iOS versions.
