Coding agentsCommand-line tools

What it does

This is the public GitHub repository for Claude Code, a coding tool from Anthropic that runs in the terminal. You give it instructions in natural language, and it works with your codebase to carry out routine tasks, explain complex code and handle git workflows. It can also be used from an IDE or by tagging @claude on GitHub. Installation is from the command line. The README recommends an install script for macOS and Linux, Homebrew, a PowerShell script or WinGet for Windows, and marks installing through npm as deprecated. After installing, you navigate to your project directory and run claude. The repository also contains Claude Code plugins that add custom commands and agents. Bugs can be reported with the /bug command inside the tool or as GitHub issues, and there is a Claude Developers Discord. The README says feedback and usage data, such as whether code suggestions are accepted, is collected, and lists safeguards such as limited retention periods.
