What it does
CLI-Anything starts from the idea that a command line suits an agent better than a graphical interface: commands are composable, describe themselves through --help and can return structured JSON. Given a piece of software or a source repository, its generator works through seven phases: analysing the code, designing the command groups, implementing a Click CLI with a REPL and undo/redo, planning tests, writing them, documenting the results and publishing a package onto your PATH. You run it from your agent with /cli-anything, for example against GIMP, and a refine command can later close gaps in coverage. It is distributed as a Claude Code plugin marketplace and has installers for Pi, OpenCode, Goose, Qodercli, OpenClaw, Cursor and other agents. CLI-Hub is the companion package manager. Install cli-anything-hub with pip, then browse, search, install and launch community-built CLIs and some public third-party ones. Agents can also install a meta-skill so they can find a suitable CLI themselves. Some generated CLIs still need the underlying application installed, and the generator needs Python 3.10+.
Capabilities
- Seven-phase generator that analyses software and produces a tested CLI harness
- Generated CLIs include a REPL, JSON output and undo/redo
- /cli-anything and /cli-anything:refine commands for building and extending harnesses
- CLI-Hub package manager for browsing, installing and launching community CLIs
- Plugins and installers for Claude Code, Cursor, Pi, OpenCode, Goose, OpenClaw and others
When to use it
- You want an AI agent to operate a desktop application or service that has no agent-friendly interface
- You would like to reuse a ready-made CLI from the community registry
- You maintain internal tooling and want agents to call it through a consistent command line
