What it does
Codachi lives in the Claude Code statusline. Its first line reports the model, context usage with a progress bar and token counts, how fast context is being consumed, an estimate of when it will fill, and 5-hour and 7-day rate-limit usage with pace and reset countdowns. A second line shows git status and lines changed, and a third shows your pet with a message. The pet is an ASCII cat, penguin, owl, octopus or bunny that grows as context fills and changes mood. A PostToolExecution hook lets it react to events such as passing or failing tests, builds, commits, pushes and risky commands, drawing on more than 900 messages. It remembers you across sessions, moves through relationship tiers, and can suggest /compact when context is high. Everything is local: no API calls, no tokens consumed and no telemetry, with a codachi stats command for a local summary. Plugins can add palettes and messages, and the interface ships in English and Simplified Chinese. Setup is a single npx codachi init.
