What it does

dbForge AI Assistant is an assistant for SQL work that lives inside Devart's dbForge products rather than running as a separate app. You open it from the toolbar of a supported product, attach a database, and it learns the database's metadata, including index information, so its answers fit your schema. The site says it does not see the actual data in your databases. It can turn a request written in everyday language into SQL, rewrite a query to run more efficiently, explain a query clause by clause, and analyze an error with a suggested fix. A chat mode with web search answers general SQL questions and can walk you through features of the dbForge product you are using. Generated queries can be copied into the SQL editor, adjusted and run, and the site recommends reviewing complex ones first. It covers SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle and PostgreSQL. The site says it is based on models from OpenAI and Anthropic and that conversations are not used to train models. The host dbForge product needs to be version 2025.1 or later. The free Express plan includes every feature with 200,000 tokens a month. The Professional plan raises that to 20 million tokens a month. It needs its own license, is not included with other dbForge licenses, and is not sold as a standalone application.
