DeepSeek Harness

Open-source agent harness from DeepSeek AI, built so that every part is a plugin and launched locally with one npx command that serves a Web UI. Currently a developer preview.

Agent frameworks

What it does

DeepSeek Harness, abbreviated dsh, is an agent harness that DeepSeek AI publishes as open source. Its architecture treats every capability as a plugin, and it runs on Cordis, a design the README ties to a published paper on composability. The project is a developer preview that is still changing fast. The README warns that updates will break compatibility and tells users to read the safety notice before starting it. With Node.js installed, the shortest route is the command npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web. It serves a Web UI on local port 3080 and, for a local launch, opens a browser tab for you; a flag keeps the browser closed. You can also build and run it from a cloned repository with pnpm. Authors who publish plugins can tag their repositories with the dsh-plugin topic to be found, and help is available through GitHub Discussions and a Discord community. The code is released under the MIT license.

Capabilities

  • Plugin-based design where the harness itself is made of plugins
  • Web UI started locally with a single npx command
  • Runs from npm or from a source checkout built with pnpm
  • Open source under the MIT license
  • Plugin repositories can be found through the dsh-plugin GitHub topic
  • Community support through GitHub Discussions and Discord

When to use it

  • You want to try an open-source agent harness from DeepSeek AI
  • You want to build or publish plugins for an agent runtime
  • You want to run an agent Web UI on your own machine
  • You are comfortable with a developer preview where breaking changes are expected
