What it does
Colab is a notebook workspace from Google. Its front page offers example notebooks that cover the basics, Markdown, charts, interactive forms that parameterize code cells, bringing in data from Drive, Sheets and Cloud Storage, and analysing large datasets with BigQuery. Several of the example notebooks are aimed at AI work: building and using managed agents, generating music with the Lyria model, and building real-time translation tools. A visualization mode turns natural-language requests into interactive dashboards, which can be shared as standalone pages through a single link. For people who prefer to work from their terminal or editor, the page lists a Colab CLI, an open-source MCP server that lets local agents control the notebook development lifecycle, and links for VS Code and PyCharm. It also says Colab has become part of Google AI Plans, and that G4 machines with Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs are available to Colab Pro+ subscribers.
