What it does
Visual Studio IntelliCode adds AI assistance to the editor you already use. Its whole-line completions look at your variable names, functions and the kind of code you are writing, then fill in an entire line at once. The site says the completions run on your machine, so private code stays private. It also reorders the IntelliSense list so the options you are most likely to use come first. Those recommendations come from analysing open-source contributions on GitHub, and in some languages you can teach it your own methods and code base properties. For refactoring, IntelliCode can notice a local edit that is repeated elsewhere and offer to apply the same change in other places, including renamed variables. Quick Actions suggest and complete common tasks, with Generate Constructor and constructor parameter additions named as the supported scenarios. Language support differs by editor: whole-line completion is listed for C# in Visual Studio and for Python in Visual Studio Code. The site also invites people to join an insider programme to preview upcoming capabilities.
