What it does
Kilo is an open-source AI coding agent offered across the places developers work: a desktop app (marked beta), VS Code and other Open VSX editors, JetBrains IDEs, a command-line interface, cloud agents started from a browser, Slack, and a mobile view for following and reviewing agents. The site says the source is MIT-licensed and can be forked, modified and self-hosted. It ships specialised agents for coding, planning and debugging, runs agents in parallel isolated worktrees, and includes a code reviewer. On models, the site promises 500+ choices with zero inference markup, bring-your-own-keys and support for local models. An Auto Model mode routes work using Efficient, Frontier or Free strategies, and the site says there is no silent model switching. The site says Kilo Auto Free needs no credit card. It does not list prices for paid models or any subscription plans.
