What it does
Kiro is an agentic AI tool for developers and teams. It comes as an IDE built on Code OSS, a command-line tool, a web interface, a mobile app and Kiro Crew, a free open-source workspace that keeps working across sessions. The core idea is to work from specs. A prompt becomes requirements, a design and a sequence of tasks before any code is written, and parallel agents then carry the tasks out on your machine or in the cloud. Kiro also checks requirements for contradictions and gaps, and uses property-based tests to verify rules that must hold across all inputs. You can choose models from Anthropic, OpenAI and open-weight providers such as DeepSeek and Qwen, or leave an Auto setting to pick one per task. Kiro supports AGENTS.md, Skills and MCP, works with the Agent Client Protocol, and can import VS Code settings, themes and Open VSX extensions. A headless CLI can run in CI/CD to review pull requests and fix bugs. For organisations, the site lists IAM and SSO sign-in, usage dashboards, cost controls and governance features. Pricing is credit-based.

- You work in a large codebase and want several agents working in parallel
- You want to review pull requests or fix bugs from CI/CD without opening an editor
- Your organisation needs SSO, usage dashboards and governance controls
