What it does
Kombai describes itself as an AI design engineer for building websites and product interfaces that do not fall back on generic AI-looking defaults. A taste agent picks the main design decisions for each task, drawing on a collection of curated pages and sections, while context tools find the design system, stack, tokens and components your product already uses. It has a Design mode, which generates standalone designs on canvases, and a Code mode, which writes production code inside your repo that follows your stack and conventions. Designs can be edited on the canvas, with parallel agents and live HTML, and Figma designs can be imported through a native integration. Existing components, hooks and tokens can be carried over from your repo, npm packages and Storybook. You can choose from more than 50 models or let a built-in router pick one, and the site says it can be used alongside coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex. It comes as a desktop app and as an extension for IDEs such as VS Code, Cursor, Antigravity, Trae and Kiro.
