What it does
Lacy Shell is a plugin for ZSH and Bash that decides for each line you type whether it is a shell command or a question. Commands run locally as usual, and questions are passed to an AI agent command-line tool you already have installed, with no prefix or mode switching needed. A small coloured bar on the prompt shows where the input will go: green for the shell, purple for the agent. If a line that was meant as a question fails in the shell, Lacy catches it and reroutes it to the agent. Ctrl+Space switches between auto, shell-only and agent-only modes. It works with Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Codex, its own lash tool, or any custom command, and needs no extra authentication or API keys. The site says nothing leaves your machine unless you send it to your agent, and that the project is MIT licensed with no telemetry. It can be installed with curl, Homebrew, npx or git.
