What it does

ManualMode is a practice platform for developers who rely on AI coding tools and want to keep their own skills sharp. It has two kinds of exercise. Gym is practice in your browser, where you read code, fix a bug and run tests. Project is a useful task taken from your own repository, reserved through a connected coding agent and completed manually in your IDE. Both feed one skill profile covering six axes, and verified outcomes shape what is recommended next. The pitch is that your real work becomes the workout: the coding agent proposes bounded tasks from the project in front of you, and you choose one to do yourself, with evidence such as passing tests recorded. A Coach can read your code and the latest failure when you ask. A free review exercise lets you inspect two synthetic patches without an account and compare your decisions with an explanation. Browser Gym currently executes JavaScript, while the review exercise also offers Python, Go, Java and C++ scenarios. In Project mode, raw source stays local by default and only bounded task metadata and verification summaries are sent.

Capabilities

  • Gym exercises in the browser for reading, debugging and testing code
  • Project tasks drawn from your own repository via a connected coding agent
  • Skill profile across six axes built from verified evidence
  • Coach that reads your code and latest failure on request
  • Free review exercise on AI-generated patches with no account

When to use it

  • You lean on AI coding tools and want deliberate practice reading and debugging code yourself
  • You want practice tasks that come from the codebase you actually work on
  • You want to build the habit of reviewing and testing AI-generated patches
