Ordewell

Terminal and editor tool that turns one goal into an editable plan of tasks, then runs each task with a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode and helps you review and merge the combined result.

What it does

Ordewell is a task orchestrator for coding agents. You describe what you want to build, the planner explores your repository without changing it and asks clarifying questions, and the goal becomes an ordered plan of tasks that you can read and edit before anything runs. Each task in the plan has its own runner, model, effort and mode. Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode are supported out of the box and can be mixed within one plan. Independent tasks run in parallel, every task that changes code works on its own branch, and passing work lands on one integration branch that you review and choose when to merge. While a plan runs, a supervisor can write you a note when a task fails or gets stuck, and at a higher level it can retry, stop or edit tasks within limits. Review and audit tasks run without write access. Ordewell comes as a terminal UI, a VS Code extension, a command-line interface for scripts and a local API, and it is released under the Apache License 2.0.

Capabilities

  • Editable plan: change any task's prompt, runner, model, effort or mode and rewire dependencies before running
  • Mix Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode within one plan
  • Independent tasks run in parallel, each on its own branch, landing on one integration branch for review
  • Supervisor that watches a run and can retry, stop or edit tasks within set limits
  • Read-only tasks for reviews and audits
  • Terminal UI, VS Code extension, CLI and local API sharing one core

When to use it

  • You want to split a large coding goal into reviewable tasks before any model work is spent
  • You want different agents or models handling different parts of the same change
  • You want agent work isolated on branches and combined into one diff that you merge yourself
