What it does

Orkas is a desktop client for macOS and Windows, with an open-source MIT edition that also supports Linux when you build it yourself. You describe a goal in chat and a Commander agent turns it into a plan, assigns the steps to specialist agents such as DeepResearcher, ContentWriter, PptMaker, ImageStudio, VideoStudio, OfficeWorker and ProductDeveloper, then checks the results. The output is files you can keep editing, for example a brief, a slide deck, a spreadsheet or a video. You can start with Orkas's managed models or connect your own providers, among them OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Kimi and GLM. The app can also call local coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, OpenCode and Hermes from the same conversation, and it supports MCP and connectors. Work can run on a schedule, and custom agents, skills and memory can be reused across projects. Per the site, chats, files, history and knowledge material stay on your device by default, API keys are stored encrypted locally, and risky operations ask for confirmation first. Optional hosted features such as managed models, multi-device sync and cloud storage need an Orkas account.
