What it does
patina is a pattern-based editor for Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese text. It uses a catalogue of 189 named patterns to find phrasing that reads as AI-written and rewrites it without changing the claims, numbers, polarity or causation. Its makers say it is meant for permitted AI-assisted drafting and not for evading detectors. It runs as a Node CLI, as an agent skill for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode, or in a browser playground. Commands cover rewrite, audit, score, diff and verify, and text can be scored offline as a CI gate. A logged-in codex, claude or gemini CLI works without an API key. Rewrites are steered by three independent settings: document type, persona and register. A persona can be learned from a sample of your own writing. The project is MIT licensed, and the README states that its scores are editing signals with false positives and negatives, not proof of authorship. The README mentions a hosted API (Pro) but gives no prices.
