poorcoder

Four small Bash scripts that carry project code and git context from your terminal to a web chat LLM and apply its markdown replies back to your files.

Command-line tools

What it does

poorcoder is a set of four terminal scripts for people who pay for a web chat subscription, such as Claude.ai or Grok, and want to use it from their normal coding workflow. The context script collects code from your project so you can paste it into the chat, and apply-md takes the code blocks from the reply and writes them to your files, with dry-run and create-missing options. The other two scripts handle git. git-context gathers repository information for writing commit messages, and autocommit passes that to a model through the separate llm command-line tool, then opens your editor so you can review the message before committing. The README argues this is cheaper than heavy API use, citing subscriptions of roughly $20 to $30 per month, and says it keeps the polish of the web interface while staying in the terminal. Examples use macOS clipboard commands. It is released under the Unlicense, and you install it by cloning the repository and making the scripts executable.
