Project Tiny Context Harness

An npm package and command-line tool that gives AI coding agents durable project memory, adding an AGENTS.md startup contract and a project_context folder, with commands that check the context's structure.

What it does

Tiny Context (project-tiny-context-harness) keeps long-lived project facts inside the repository so a coding agent can find them. Running its init command adds an AGENTS.md file with a short development contract, plus a project_context folder holding a global.md file and a context.toml routing manifest. It requires Node.js 24 or newer. The context is meant for goals and non-goals, ownership and dependency boundaries, confirmed decisions with their reasons, and project constraints. The CLI lists and inspects the default context files, creates, registers and moves context files with a preview step and a recoverable journal, and syncs the managed block in AGENTS.md. The validate-context command checks the manifest and registered paths and can be added to a CI workflow, and doctor reports problems. The README notes that a passing check does not prove an agent loaded or followed the contract. An optional design-resource skill uses the Stitch MCP for visual generation and revisions. An upgrade command moves older installations to the current schema. The repository's topics name Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and OpenCode. It is MIT licensed.

Capabilities

  • Installs an AGENTS.md startup contract for coding agents
  • Keeps project facts in a project_context folder with a routing manifest
  • validate-context and doctor commands to check structure, usable in CI
  • Previewed, journal-backed commands to create, register and move context files
  • Optional skill for design resources through the Stitch MCP

When to use it

  • You want a fresh coding-agent session to pick up project goals and boundaries
  • You want project knowledge stored in the repo rather than in chat history
  • You want a CI check that the project context is well formed
