What it does

Rytr combines two jobs in one assistant: keeping track of the people you work with, and writing for them. It connects to tools you choose, such as Gmail, Outlook, Slack and Google Calendar, and builds a memory of each person, what was discussed and what you promised. The relationship side, called Engage, sends a daily brief of who needs you, prepares you before meetings and drafts follow-ups. Briefs appear inside the app and can also arrive as an iMessage or SMS. The site says nothing is sent until you approve it, and that you can see where each memory came from and correct or delete it. The writing side, called Create, helps turn a rough idea into emails, posts, ads and pages, or rewrite, shorten, expand and continue existing text. The site lists 40 use cases, a choice of 22 tones or your own voice, 38 languages, and as many as three drafts per request. A browser extension brings both sides to Gmail, Slack and LinkedIn, and to other places where you type.
