screenpipe

Screenpipe captures your screen and audio into a history stored on your own computer, which agents such as Claude or ChatGPT can search through a local API and an MCP server. Available for macOS, Windows and Linux.

What it does

Screenpipe records your screen activity and audio and keeps the history on your device, so an AI assistant can use your real work history as context. The site says the raw history stays on the device by default, and describes the code as source-available and inspectable. Capture draws on accessibility data, screenshots with text recognition as a fallback, and audio transcripts. You can exclude apps, windows and URLs, and sensitive fields are redacted on the device before storage. The history is exposed through a local database, a REST API and an MCP server, so it is not tied to one model. The site shows an assistant such as Claude searching that history to map how someone processed invoices, and a Recall view for scrubbing back through the day. A Workflows app, labelled beta, looks for recurring work across apps and links each step back to source evidence. An enterprise option adds a managed workspace with MDM, SSO and audit logs.
