What it does
ShyEditor is a web app for writing long fiction. It takes a book from premise to chapter outline, keeps a knowledge base of characters, places and events, and offers a distraction-free editor that suggests the next sentence when you press Tab. Its AI chat knows the whole project, so you can ask it to check a timeline, follow a character across chapters or look for plot holes. A background advice panel flags contradictions, overused words and characters missing from the knowledge base. For revision you can request a critique of one chapter, or an editorial letter on the whole book with problems ranked by severity. Drafts can be imported from DOCX, TXT or Markdown. Writing is stored locally and syncs when you reconnect, chapters keep version snapshots, and a corkboard view lets you reorder them. Export presets cover novels, APA and MLA. The site says it also suits short fiction, academic writing and research, and that your writing is not used to train AI models.
