What it does
StyleSeed is an open-source, MIT-licensed design-method project for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. It turns recorded design decisions into project-local rules and workflows that a coding agent follows when building screens. The project states plainly that a score does not replace human design acceptance. You install it from a terminal with an npx command, which needs Node.js and npm and copies the skills into the current project. You then ask your agent, for example with /styleseed in Claude Code, to improve a screen. A STYLESEED.md file records the chosen skin, accent colour, radius and motion so that later screens stay consistent. The agent runs a check scored from 0 to 100 against 74 craft rules and is told to revise anything under 80 before showing it. Flagged patterns include an unselected default accent, emoji used as icons and hardcoded hex values. Other parts include a palette generator, brand recipes and skins, a studio pipeline for design directions and prototypes, and a workflow that compiles screenshots, URLs or Figma files into project rules.
