What it does

Synthesia calls itself an AI video platform for business. You describe what you need to its assistant, or begin with a slide deck, a document or a link, and get a draft with a script, scenes and an avatar presenter. There are hundreds of stock avatars, an Avatar Builder for designing your own, and Personal Avatars made from a single photo or short video, with an optional cloned voice. The site says every Personal Avatar needs an on-camera consent recording. Finished videos can be translated into 140+ languages. AI Dubbing can also translate videos made elsewhere, from an upload or a YouTube link, keeping the original speaker's voice with optional lip sync and a glossary for brand terms. Brand Kits, live collaboration and shared workspaces keep team output consistent. Videos can be shared by link, embedded, or exported to a learning management system as SCORM packages, and analytics show who watches and where they drop off. Sessions are two-way conversations with an avatar. Roleplay Sessions let a team practise hard conversations and get coached and scored, while Survey Sessions have an avatar ask questions, follow up and return themes and sentiment. Developers can generate videos, run dubbing and embed real-time interactive avatars through the API, and an MCP server lets people make videos from inside Claude or ChatGPT. The site states SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and ISO 42001 certification, GDPR compliance with EU data residency, and SSO and SCIM for enterprise teams.
