What it does
TextCraft is an add-in that puts AI writing help inside Microsoft Word. A Generate task pane takes a typed prompt, uses your document and any loaded reference material as context, and converts the reply from markdown into Word formatting. A Writing Tools menu offers Review, Proofread and Rewrite for selected text. Review gives suggestions for improving your writing, while Proofread and Rewrite refine or rework the selection. A RAG Control lets you add PDFs as extra context for Generate, Review and comments, and you can tag a model with @ in a Word comment to get its reply in the thread. The project is built for offline use. By default it talks to Ollama on your own machine, and it also works with OpenAI and other providers that follow the OpenAI API standard. The system prompts for each feature can be changed through environment variables. It requires Windows 10 version 20H2 or later and Office 2010 or later, and it installs from a downloaded setup package.
