Usage HUD

Free Mac menu-bar app that shows how much of your Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Grok and Ollama usage is left, which plan has room and when limits reset. Also offers a read-only command line and MCP server for agents.

What it does

Usage HUD sits in the macOS menu bar and reads usage across five lanes: Claude, Codex, Gemini, Grok and local Ollama. It answers with one verdict, GO, WATCH or STOP, for the plan you are on. When the current plan is running hot it names another plan that has room, and each lane shows when it would run out at the current pace and when it resets. Every reading is labelled official, measured or estimated, and an old reading says it is old. The app also shows an API-equivalent value for your usage, counted from session logs on your Mac. The site stresses that this is a size comparison and not your bill. It needs macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel. Claude Code or Codex must be signed in for those lanes, and the Gemini and Grok lanes need Node.js 18 or later. There is no account, and the numbers stay on your Mac unless you switch on an optional public badge. The app also works as a read-only command line and as an MCP server with five tools, so agents can ask which plan has room before long work. A Windows version is planned but not available yet.
