What it does
BugLens connects to a GitHub organization as a GitHub App, and repositories to review are selected during installation. When a developer opens a pull request, BugLens receives the webhook and fetches the diff. It runs 8 deterministic rules on the diff. It then sends the diff to AI analysis. BugLens posts one inline comment per finding at the exact line. It sets a commit status that is green if the pull request is clean and red if issues are found. When a developer pushes a fix, BugLens dismisses the old review and runs a fresh one automatically. BugLens also reviews agent-authored pull requests through an API, an MCP server and a command-line interface.
Capabilities
- The 8 deterministic rules cover hardcoded secrets, missing await, import typos, eval usage, shell injection and variable mismatches.
- Inline comments can include a committable suggestion for the fix.
- Teams write their conventions as Lessons in a knowledge base, and BugLens applies them to every pull request.
- Replying to a BugLens comment makes BugLens remember the feedback, and future reviews apply it.
- Review analytics track bug patterns, recurring violations and code health over time.
When to use it
- You want every pull request reviewed automatically, with no CI changes and no config files.
- You are building with AI coding agents and want their agent-authored pull requests reviewed.
- You want your team's own conventions applied to every pull request review.
