What it does
Every script, cron job and agent gets its own note. Scripts append lines to a note with the freshjots command, authenticated by an API token. The note is created on the first write. A note can have a dead man's switch that emails you when nothing has been appended within a set time, such as 25 hours. Fresh Jots also offers a heartbeat URL that is checked every minute, for servers and services that should never stop. Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can connect at https://freshjots.com/mcp and read your notes over OAuth. You can read notes in the browser or on a phone.
Capabilities
- Every entry is hashed and timestamped, then anchored daily to Bitcoin.
- An append-only option lets notes gain new lines without any line being rewritten.
- An encrypted option lets users encrypt a note with their own key and store only the ciphertext. Fresh Jots says it cannot read, search or decrypt these notes.
- Each note can be downloaded as .txt, .docx or .pdf, and the full archive can be downloaded as a single .zip from Options.
- Official clients are available through npm, Homebrew, RubyGems, PyPI and a GitHub Actions action.
When to use it
- You need a log for a nightly cron job and want an email when it stops appending.
- You want to keep Claude Code or Codex sessions so you can read them later.
- You want a heartbeat URL that is checked every minute for a server or service that should never stop.
