What it does
Hikari is an open-source Next.js application that you clone and turn into your own product. Its source uses Next.js pages, Hono APIs and Drizzle queries, with Supabase and Stripe connected. To run it locally, clone the GitHub repository and run bun install, bunx supabase start, bunx supabase migration up --local, ./coremvp env sync and bun run dev. You then create your first local account at localhost:3000. Local setup requires Git, Bun 1.3.14, Node.js 20.19+, Bash and running Docker. After signup works locally, you connect Stripe billing. The documentation covers running locally, connecting subscriptions and deploying to Vercel.
Capabilities
- Accounts include email and password signup, a password recovery flow, server checks and protected pages at /dashboard and /account.
- Subscription billing uses Stripe Checkout, webhooks and the Customer Portal, with monthly and yearly billing intervals.
- The Account page shows subscription status, and access is synced by webhooks.
- Documentation and a blog are written in MDX with search and live in your own repository.
- A sample dashboard with example projects and analytics components can be tried without an account, using sample data that is not saved.
When to use it
- You are starting a new Next.js application and want accounts and subscription billing already connected.
- You want documentation and a blog to live in the same repository as your application.
- You want to try the subscription billing flow with example plans in Stripe test mode.
