RowDex

RowDex is a native desktop database client for SQL engines, Redis, MongoDB, and BullMQ queues.

Data analysis

What it does

RowDex connects to PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, MongoDB, and Redis from one desktop window. It also inspects BullMQ queues. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. The SQL editor has multiple tabs and schema autocomplete. Users can keep saved queries and query history. Saved queries accept {{variable}} placeholders. Redis keys can be browsed with pattern search and TTL inspection. The Redis browser also includes an in-app command console. The BullMQ dashboard lets users see queue depth, pause workers, retry failed jobs, and inspect payloads on the same Redis connection. The MongoDB browser supports JSON filters and in-app document editing. RowDex says its signed installers are under 50 MB and its idle memory use is under 60 MB.

Capabilities

  • Production mode flags DROP, TRUNCATE, and DELETE without WHERE before they run.
  • Read-only mode can be turned on for any connection. It blocks INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE before they leave the editor.
  • AI query assist turns an English description into read-only SQL and waits for confirmation before anything runs. It uses your own OpenAI key.
  • Any saved SQL can be pinned as a widget that refreshes automatically on an interval.
  • RowDex stores connection passwords in the operating system keychain on macOS, Windows, or Linux.

When to use it

  • You run daily queries against Postgres, Redshift, MySQL, MariaDB, or SQLite and want one multi-tab editor.
  • You need to retry failed BullMQ jobs and inspect their payloads.
  • You are connecting to a production database and want warnings and confirmation before destructive statements.
