Anthropic says Claude Pro and Team Standard users will move to pay-as-you-go usage credits for Claude Fable 5 after July 19, 2026, while eligible users receive a one-time promotional credit. Max and Team Premium subscribers will keep limited Fable 5 access within weekly plan limits.
Anthropic is moving Claude Fable 5 access for eligible Claude Pro and Team Standard subscribers from weekly plan limits to pay-as-you-go usage credits after July 19, 2026, according to the Claude Help Center.
In a support article titled “Claude Fable 5 one-time free credits promotion,” Anthropic says eligible Pro and Team Standard users will receive $100 in one-time promotional credits, with local-currency conversion where applicable. The Help Center frames the credit as a transition measure as those users begin using Fable 5 through usage credits rather than included weekly limits.
A separate Claude Help Center article, “Claude Fable 5 on your plan,” states that the change begins July 20, 2026. It says Max and Team Premium subscribers will continue to have Fable 5 included within 50% of their weekly usage limits, while Pro and Team Standard subscribers will use pay-as-you-go credits for Fable 5 access.
According to Anthropic’s Help Center, the practical effect depends on the subscription tier.
For Claude Max and Team Premium, Fable 5 remains part of the plan, but within a stated cap: up to 50% of weekly usage limits. For Claude Pro and Team Standard, Fable 5 usage shifts to a credits-based model after the transition date.
Tech2 also reported the access change, saying Anthropic is moving Claude Pro and Team Standard users to usage credits for Fable 5 while maintaining limited Fable 5 access for Max and Team Premium subscribers. Tech2 likewise reported that eligible users receive a one-time $100 credit.
The company’s own launch post for Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 provides the pricing context. Anthropic listed Fable 5 at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. The launch post also said subscription-plan inclusion would be temporary before usage credits were required.
The update is notable because it makes the cost of using Anthropic’s higher-priced model more explicit for some subscribers. Instead of being handled entirely through recurring plan limits, Fable 5 usage for Pro and Team Standard users will be metered through credits.
That distinction matters for developers, teams, and frequent users who build workflows around specific models. Anthropic’s published Fable 5 pricing means heavy usage can be estimated in token terms: input and output volume determine cost under the listed rates.
The one-time promotional credit may soften the transition for eligible users, but Anthropic’s Help Center makes clear that the underlying access model is changing for Pro and Team Standard. The company is not describing the credit as a permanent plan benefit.
Anthropic’s documentation shows a continued move toward tiered access and usage-based pricing for advanced models. Fable 5 remains available across paid plans, but the way access is counted now differs by subscription level.
For organizations using Claude in products, internal tools, or recurring workflows, the change reinforces the need to track model choice, token use, and plan limits. Anthropic’s own pricing for Fable 5 gives teams a basis for budgeting, while the Help Center articles clarify which users will encounter usage credits directly after July 19, 2026.
