NVIDIA forms an open AI-security coalition

NVIDIA has announced the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition created with inaugural partners to develop and share open technologies, techniques and tools for safeguarding software and AI agents.

In its announcement, NVIDIA described the alliance as an industry collaboration focused on making AI security capabilities more accessible through open development. Rather than introducing a single security product, the initiative is intended to support the creation and sharing of practical resources that organizations can use when building, deploying and operating AI-enabled software.

The effort addresses a growing concern for companies adopting AI systems in operational settings. Models and AI agents can be connected to enterprise data, external tools, software services and user workflows. Those connections can broaden the scope of security work, making it important to protect not only models themselves but also the applications, permissions and interactions around them.

NVIDIA said the alliance will work on technologies and techniques designed to secure software and AI agents. HPE, which said it has joined the alliance, characterized the effort as one that promotes open models, tooling and shared innovation for securing AI systems. The publication also noted that OpenAI, Anthropic and Google were not listed among the participants it reviewed, underscoring that the coalition's initial membership does not encompass every major developer of closed AI models.

The alliance's longer-term impact will depend on the security technologies it releases, the contributors it attracts and whether its work proves useful across different AI platforms and deployment environments.
